Victoria is a Western Medical Herbalist and Arvigo® Abdominal Massage practitioner. This makes her one of a handful of therapist in the UK able to bring together herbal medicine with specialist abdominal massage techniques to support optimal reproductive and digestive health.
Victoria works with men and women, boys and girls at all stages of their development. Victoria holds two BSc (honours) degrees in Herbal Medicine (1:1) and Psychology (2:1), and an advanced professional qualification in the Arvigo® techniques of Maya abdominal therapy.
Herbal Medicine uses extracts of medicinal plants, containing therapeutic compounds, to support your body’s natural healing abilities. As Western Herbalists we primarily use British medicinal plants including herbs and shrubs, trees, mushrooms, sea vegetables and foods. Our medicines come in the form of tinctures, teas, capsules suppositories and creams.
Herbal Medicine is ideal for chronic conditions and its gentle action makes it suitable for people of all ages. Herbal medicines can be taken with some pharmaceutical medicines but not with others. Our training in pharmacology affords us the knowledge of where these exclusions occur.
Herbal Medicine is a holistic therapy in that it addresses the mind and body as a whole, and lifestyle and dietary recommendations may be suggested where appropriate.
As a Western Medical Herbalist Pieter is a general practitioner of health (similar to your GP), treating a wide range of chronic and acute conditions. Rather than offering pharmaceutical medicine he prescribes natural medicines derived from extracts of medicinal plants.
Medicinal plants contain powerful biochemicals that have a potent though gentle effect on the body and can be taken over long periods. They are suitable for people of all ages and can be taken alongside some pharmaceutical medicines.
The Arvigo® techniques of Maya abdominal massage support your reproductive and digestive health. The techniques are a gentle, non-invasive massage of the abdomen, sacrum, back and hips founded on ancient Maya abdominal massage and healing techniques.
The techniques address the physical health and position of pelvic and abdominal organs. Soft and gentle manipulations are used to reposition misaligned organs and to stimulate the circulation of blood, lymph and nerve impulses, in so doing, nourishing and clearing organs for optimal function. See official Arvigo® site.
The Arvigo® Abdominal Massage lasts for one hour and is a gentle, non-invasive massage and manipulation of the abdomen, sacrum, back and hips. As self-care is an important part of the treatment, at the end of your massage you will be shown how to complete the abdominal massage for yourself.
If you feel you need a more in-depth consultation or if you feel your condition could benefit from herbal medicine, dietary and lifestyle advice please book a two hour session.
