I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor offering a warm and compassionate environment where you can begin to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and emotions and understand how they may be impacting your physical and mental wellbeing. As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their professional codes of ethics and am committed to on-going professional development.
Counselling can be a deeply rewarding experience, allowing you the opportunity to sit with someone in a safe, confidential space who will think with you about whatever is troubling you. To feel truly heard and understood, to gain a deeper understanding of yourself or to simply find ways of coping with everyday worries and stresses. I have experience supporting people with a broad range of issues, including:
Anxiety and low self esteem
Depression, low mood and feelings of emptiness
Bereavement, loss and major life changes/crisis
Stress and its impact on work, home, relationships
Living alongside long-term physical disabilities and medical conditions, health/birth related traumas
Trauma, abuse and self harm
Experience and Background
Over the years I have worked for a number of charity based organisations, including The Counselling Foundation, Cruse Bereavement Care and with Her Majesty’s Prison service. Prior to counselling I worked as a registered nurse for over 10 years, in NHS hospitals and residential settings before specialising as a Practice nurse in a GP surgery. Alongside private practice I volunteer at a senior school counselling adolescents.
How I work
Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet and for you to tell me a bit about yourself and what has brought you here. If you decide to continue we can then arrange a regular time to meet, typically on a weekly basis. I offer both open-ended work as well as short-term Grief therapy session.
Please call or email me for more details.
My fees: £45 for a 50 minute session
I have a limited number of concessions available for those on a reduced income, or if you feel that you are struggling financially at the moment. Please contact me for more details.
