Traditional Chinese Medicine is a system of medicine based on more than 2,500 years of Chinese medical practice that includes acupuncture, herbs, massage (tui na), exercise (qigong, tai chi) and dietary therapy.
Traditional acupuncture aims to bring the body back into balance by using ultra-fine sterile needles inserted into specific points on channels, or meridians, located on the body. These points have specific functions to impact the energetic flow of energy around the body – otherwise known as Qi, or Chi – which can become blocked or depleted. This can manifest as physical discomfort, pain, a diagnosed medical condition or a general feeling of malaise. You might be suffering with low mood, depression and anxiety; unable to understand why you are feeling this way. This is where acupuncture can help.
At your initial consultation we will spend up to 1.5 hours discussing your current symptoms and take a detailed health history, in order to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs. Follow up appointments will be up to 1hr. No two people are usually treated in the same way, even if they suffer with the same condition. This approach to healing is one of the strengths of acupuncture: it encourages your body’s own healing response, to restore physical, emotional and mental equilibrium.
Magdalena uses three styles in her acupuncture practice: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Five Elements, and Master Tung. As a part of the treatment, she also offers dietary and lifestyle advice and utilizes techniques like Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion, Ear Acupuncture and Electroacupuncture. In each session she does pulse and tongue diagnosis, palpation, and comprehensive questioning.
